Chatting

Type in the chat box and press Enter. Your assistant has memory across sessions, so you can refer back to earlier work naturally. Responses may include formatted text, code, tables, and math.

AI output is not infallible. Answers can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and are not professional advice. Review anything important before you rely on it.

Tools and agents

Your assistant can do more than talk — it can use tools to get things done: search, work with files, run code, and carry out multi-step tasks. When a task needs several steps, it works through them and reports back.

The sandbox

When the assistant runs commands or code, it does so in a controlled way. You decide how much freedom to give it:

• Ask first — the assistant proposes an action and waits for your approval.
• Automated — for trusted, repetitive work you can let it proceed without asking each time.

You are responsible for actions you authorize. Automated execution acts on your device, data, and accounts. Review what the assistant is set up to do before enabling unattended operation, and keep backups of anything important.

Files

By default the assistant works only inside its own workspace. To let it help with files elsewhere, you grant access per folder, per session — it always asks, and access is never remembered silently. See Files & workspace.
